Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

13 Senators want to know NOW if Dept of Ed will discharge student loans at corrupt schools where laws are broken. Mass

Did CCi fake graduation and placement rates? Yep. Engage in deceptive marketing practices? Yep. Continue to sell students high interest loans? Yep.

The senators maintain that under federal law, the Department of Education is empowered to cancel student loans in cases in which schools violate the rights of their students.

Elizabeth Warren, Edward Markey (Mass), Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse (Rhode Island) Christopher Murphy and Richard Blumenthal (Connecticut) Barbara Boxer (California) Richard Durbin (Illinois) Jeff Merkley (Oregon) Al Franken (Minnesota) Brian Schatz and Mazie Hirono (Hawaii) Tammy Baldwin ( Wisconsin).

Dear HELLO: I have heard that there are people who can type but cannot read. Let me help you with this one: there ARE lawsuits. Lots of them. And maybe, just maybe, some work here for the purpose of observing procedures, practices, and behaviors.

SO TAKE YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY OFF AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR NOSE. Maybe it will result in the lobotomy that you apparently need but won't get under the Affordable Care Act.

250: You make a good point. CCi engaged in intentionally fraudulent and illegal activites. The conclusion to that should NOT be us taxpayers going in and bailing students out. It should be a life lesson to the students ("Let the buyer beware") to be more careful when signing things. They should also have the satisfaction of knowing that JackMass and his cronies were held accountable and lost their assets and freedom. It is astonishing to me that people are still getting away with Enron levels of willful corruption with absolutely no consequences. What the hell is our society becoming?!?

Well stated 083. DOE will not want to be responsible for forgiving billions of dollars in student loans. Jack and his buddies don't have close to that amount for restitution. Therefore, I say take them to court, prove the allegations, and put them in jail.

You cant take action based n assumption. Nothing has been proven. There has been no introduction of systemic corrupt action. No one in their right minds will discharge 1.5 billion in loans based on an allegation. The actions taken by congressional leaders is nothing more than absurd politics and they shoukd be called out for it. If the discharge were to take place, then I would like a congressional voice on discharging home lians as well. At least in that venue facts have been proven.

Also, why stop at rvps for repayment? Why not work your way down to all employees. Based on ypur statements fraud was well aware. Therefore, all employees played a role based on your ideology.

The government needs to collect money from Jack, his executives, Divisional useless people, useless RVP and all other people above campus presidents. All of these people must give the government all of their money to the last dollar and last pair of cute shoes that the RVP and divisionals have. These folks need to get a taste of how most of our students live and actually some of our staff live. Please take their mansions, homes, cars, clothes, shoes and whatever else they have. The can live under bridges as our students do.

This is why DOE should have either shut down CCI or refused to settle with them the first time they went through this in 2007. CCI is rotten and run by crooks. If student debt is forgiven who's going to pay? The correct thing would be to force CCI to return the funds, but that is obviously impossible. Instead, taxpayers will be asked to pay for CCI's criminality. It's another tax-payer bailout for a corrupt business. Well played, CCI, well played, you pathetic scumbags.
