I work on the 5th floor east side. I hear Bill Ross gave his notice. He wasn't long for the world as he wanted to be SVP of Supply Chain. Guess he got impatient waiting for Don to retire.

Staples use to be a strong company...now it's fading fast...it's sad..because I see so much that could be done to make it better.....but I'm just a smm..and as for bonus.....have u had one in three years....they use to be something to follow all year...but that is gone also.sad to see such a strong co. "Fall" due to corporate not caring anymore about the people!
I know what you mean. Even when there are no call outs staffing is so thing that nothing gets done because CPC has a line, or the O/S associate is on register backup half their shift, etc etc. Greet and walk every customer? Doesn't happen because either there is no one on the floor or the one person who is on the floor is trying to get 20 projects done.
It has become ridiculous. ...and stressful
Yes things will get worse.....and yes..majority of my store is part time...no one can go over 25 hours...so a three day a week employee really dosent know what's happening. ..nor do they care ...if they even show up...payroll is so tight..one call put causes a domino effect...then no one can get there own job job done!! Everyone covers everyone!
anonymous 1234 - the plan is to cut as much as possible to ensure Ron gets his full bonus for 2014. Seriously though, I hear a lot of talk of eliminating SMM positions from tier 2 stores. The position currently only exists in T1 and T2 stores. It is kind of funny how Otis was saying in the videos that in stock for the customer has gone up (which is bad) for the last few years. This correlates directly with when they eliminated the Ops Mgr position, and before that, the office supply lead.
You keep cutting payroll in stores and trying to replace seasoned managers with $12 hr kids off the street and things will continue to get worse.
Anon48835 - no, Dave Sobb's son, Jon.
Q1= Feb,March and April
What month would Q1 be in 2015?
Okay..so the higher ups are part of the new realignment. ..what about store level managers. .ssm,smm?..we just installed the new phone system...new kiosk...but 3 year's ago had a re structure of store and dismissed 4 key full time employee's...then had a store remodel. .I don't get what the plan is??
Let me guess....Mike DeSantos' son?
Anon48698 - funny thing after Scott left too - the son of one of the VP's took over as manager of the department(that Scott used to manage.) No nepotism there, right?
Supply chain org announcement supposedly coming next week. Not sure if planned before Ross left or not.
I knew something was up when Charlwood left the company. He was the only decent guy who was straight forward... he must have known something was going down. Yes they are going to be closing all the SDOs by the end of Q1 2015... like you said massive layoffs coming which will add temporary profits to the bottom line.... temporary being the key word
Sure....they want to keep us through the holiday season...
I hope Aldred is stupid enough to go for his position under the new realignment. Oops, did I just say the new realignment after more mass layoffs in late Jan to early Feb 2015...then another wave March - April?? I've never been good with keeping secrets, especially when it involves pure evil. You didn't hear that everyone. ;)
To many VPs and redundant positions. VP & General Counsel, VP of HR, VP of Supply Chain, SVP of Store Operations, SVPs of Divisional retail, RVP of Regional retail, etc etc, all making well over $150-$200k and an absolute waste of money. One VP to rule them all and then everyone else is Manager of Supply Chain, Senior HR Manager, Divisional Manager, Regional Manager, etc capped out at $100k. They cap store level associates out around $15 hr, cap these windbags too. To many cooks in the kitchen as Anonymous48439 said. All they do is screw things up.
TOO MANY COOKS! Haha!
They will be leaving in droves soon enough, willing or unwilling. To many VPs anyway.
