Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Framingham Announcement.

Mostly the announcement was stuff everyone already knew, what did stick out however were statements like, "sometimes to fully reinvent you must start fresh," and, "the next few months will be painful, but pain is part of the healing process," "tech companies are nimble, efficient, and comfortable. " Additionally, earnings are soft and brick & mortar were the drag. Basically, expect continued reduction, the cessation of conglomerate pilots, and an even more aggressive focus online. Also, the credit hack financial liability will largely occur during the next fiscal year which could affect spendy site upgrades and infrastructure initiatives.

Anyone get that number for the lawyer to file class action lawsuit. I am going through the pip action plan process right now for store conditions that they caused by staff and payroll cutting. There is no way to get everything done and they are trying to fire several of us to avoid paying severance pay and unemployment by stating it is policy to have completed. Help. My family is at jeapordy if I am not working. The only income. If I can't get unemployment. I don't know what I'll do. This is just increasing the stress around here.

"I am so stressed...I have droped 10 pounds in a month" Sorry to hear that Anon1234. On the other hand, glad it isn't just me. It is impossible to get anything done while so short handed. Either tasks and store conditions or customer service suffers from the lack of staff and payroll.

It has been headed in this direction for a long time and now not even heroic effort by management (staying late, coming in early / off the clock etc) can keep things on course. It is a massive struggle to even get a bare minimum of work done around helping customers. Running night crews or early morning crews (not that there is payroll for this) are only a temporary help if they can not be sustained. If they want all the shit done and greet/help each customer stores need more payroll.

"earnings are soft and brick & mortar were the drag" - So change out top management in retail. GMs (and assistants) are perpetually on the hotseat, DM turnover is at an all-time high, even some RVPs have been pushed out in the last couple years. Yet none of the SVPs have been pressured and Otis had a redundant position created for him. Demos needs to go, but he would likely just be replaced with someone that makes even more ineffective decisions.

I hear you anonymous 1234 - our CPC is constantly overwhelmed with customers. They try to upsell, call back customers that have not placed orders lately, etc, etc. all the normal procedures. They still can't hit budget. My thought is that the budget is INTENTIONALLY set out of reach to prevent triggering any bonus payouts (I know it's just Star Points now.)

The whole company is like that...sales contests with goals out of reach, again so they don't have to pay out, but they get they spike in slaes from the effort.

This company is sleazy and if they are giving out PIPs they need to start at the top.

How about starting fresh with new executives! When does Ron get a PIP? How about Demos? They should all be terminated! Worthless ideas from worthless executives!

My stores biggest focus is c.p.c....tech is threatened every week of losing employment if numbers are not hit...o.s. goes without anyone scheduled. .but the 16 pallets have to somehow get done...c.p.c. has 5 people scheduled daily....and still can NOT hit budget. It's just madness..phones ringing constantly. ..angry customers because no one can help them...cast refers everything...so does asat!!

Staples isn't a tech company, it is a company that wants to be seen as a tech company so it might survive. Staples is focusing on the wrong thing, the site will not survive without the stores.

Get the same law firm that handled the assistant mgr class action, I can't recall the name name but they won and also sued Rockstar over GTA3.

I think it's a 50/50 chance Staples will do something fraudulent/criminal/negligent during the purge. Dot your "i's" and cross your "t's" because they will look for ANY reason to terminate for cause rather than pay severance while cutting this many people.

Expect efforts to PIP managers to increase dramatically soon/now. If they are closing your store and paying up to 12 weeks of severance the wish is to reduce this big big expense. It all goes away if they make you go away before the announcement. For any thinking you may be one of those think CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT and you all may do just fine. Hell you all might connect and organize right here on this forum. Be careful how you connect. Name a lawyer who all should contact. No direct contacts on this forum. Staples has a very bad track record as it relates to fighting CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS.
