Do you think folks in Taiwan might be affected during the upcoming layoffs. I did not hear anything about layoffs here.

There is a message that Atheros might be affected big time - Qualcomm Atheros Taiwan (Taipei City) will likely be hit pretty hard.
I heard atheros taiwan will also get hit hard...pretty much everyone outside of systems engineering is being considered, up to 30% cut is what i heard
