Thread regarding Bally Technologies Inc. layoffs

Layoffs coming Wednesday 12/10?

So I hear that layoffs might be coming on the 10th. I also hear that it will be a substantial amount. Anyone else hear this?

Love how they are treating employees over this. At least we will be laid off with "respect".

Bally is clearly the money maker here and SGMS will certainly not bite the hand that feeds it by getting rid of a lot of Bally employees. Is there dead weight that could be laid off? Absolutely? SGMS would be silly to cripple both companies to the point they aren't profitable anymore. I honestly could see Gavin importing the content from WMS to Bally and then either selling the WMS division to pay down the debt or closing it entirely. I just don't see the need to have two cabinet makers when content is what it is all about.

Yeah, the spoiled lazy WMS employees working in the “county club” need to be taught a lesson. Good thing SGMS came in to cut the fat and crack the whip :P Truth is, WMS employees also think that new building was WAY too lavish. But it did the job it was intended to do: attract a sucker/buyer like SGMS! But even with WMS being really good at blowing money they were still a nice profitable gaming company that was fun to work at. SGMS hasn't turned a profit in years and now Bally also gets to be swallowed up by The Nothing.

Bally is like the clown in the stephen king movie It. Everyone in the company is the clown in some way.

Glad to see WMS going down; company has pitiful upper management in operations that sucked it dry; more jobs to mexico.

When employees are more concerned with basketball privileges, free soda, fitness clubs and roof top terraces I see why morale is in the toilet especially if it's taken away. Is WMS building games or a country club? No wonder employees are leaving or being "synergized" out.

SciGames just layed off 5% at WMS just before the merger. They"Synergized" 15% more over the last year. A lot of dead-weight was removed, but now a lot of very talented people are quiting. Morale is in the toilet as the rats are scrambling to reach higher ground as the ship sinks, and backstabing is rampant. When they cut another 10+% next week it will be the Coup de Grace.

I'm hearing Dec. 8th and that cuts will be deep for the domestic offices.

Have you've seen WMS in the directory? That company is more bloated than a fat check during a menstrual cycle. Everyone is a Senior or a Principal or a Manager of something. I'm sure the powers to be saw this and will be acting upon it. Bally isn't too far behind with the ridiculous titles too. VP's reporting to VP's with Directors and Managers under them who have nobody to direct or manage. It was inevitable that SCI Games would eventually clean house and get rid of the "money makers" who do nothing. Let's see how serious they are about saving money.

I have heard two dates - the 8th and the 10th. We'll see.

I haven't heard anything but the date makes sense. It's the day after payroll is processed. As the size of the layoff, also makes sense since the company doesn't want to carry the dead weight into next fiscal year.
