Schedules have been made for faculty for January quarter. Everyone is going on as usual. And yet...the ticking clock looms. It's stressful, to say the least. We're told there are more potential buyers (most likely because the price keeps falling). But they will need to deal with WASC and the Attorney General of CA. No doubt ED will approve anything at this point.
Deadlines can always be extended.
We go to break and come back january 5th...January 5th is the deadline

Which she is, really.
My take is that Kamala Harris would love this to be one of her signature accomplishments to tout when she runs for governor. She can say she protected the poor and downtrodden.

I'll bet if CCI can show the DOE they have a buyer for Heald and are taking steps to close the deal, the DOE will allow an amendment to the operating agreement and allow CCI a little extra time.
No, they had 6 months, I.E. January 5th to come up with an agreement in principle. They'll be stretching the negotiations out for another month.
