Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Announcements to come.

New SDO closure announcements go to regional leadership the last Friday of January. Roughly 30 percent are expected to be eliminated from Logistics. Regional leadership will also be receiving information on the enormous number of retail closures slated for 2015 at the end of this month or end of February depending on your market volatility. Altogether these will produce thousands of layoffs and put company on target for up to 35% cost reductions. Severance is trying to be avoided at all costs so be your own advocates. More from Framingham as I find out.

It goes with out saying that that support staff for sdo's will be included. Loaders, sda's T.A's, HR. There is a full list of all personnel that is submitted prior to building closing.

Does this go for all positions or just the drivers that were severed with the SDO closures?

Curious to know the exact phrasing about avoiding severance .... "terminate for petty reasons when there is an opportunity" - "drive everyone nuts so they quit before the closure is announced " ? They already do both of these.

A company that doesn't care about its employees is a company not getting 100% from its employees. That is really sad that companies attempt to avoid severance.
