SAE's major competitor is Full Sail....they have a marketing department of 40 people. I hardly think the 6 people is too many, especially to support 2 different schools and 9 campuses around the nation.
And Marketing. There are so many at the Marketing group level. I've seen marketing firms have less people for Gods sake! What they needed to do is find one or two people who had experience in schools and knew the right vendors.
Yes. Screw with the academics. Because that's only the beef of the program. Better yet... Why don't you have Admissions teach the courses since that's where the money and growth are.
I didn't think things could get worse
They got rid of the wrong people. Compliance and Career Services??? Seriously???? Those two actually did their jobs
It's doable. Our Chair teaches as well. But I guess it depends on the size of your campus
As an academic instructor, I can't imagine out department chair teaching as well as all those other duties.
This is very unfortunate. Obviously, corporate has no idea what happens at the campuses to think that a Department Chair can do the work and also teach classes and do all the advising. This would be a very bad mistake. But it wouldn't be the first (or 100th) in the last 6 months
Department chairs will be teaching when they start laying off adjuncts
Getting rid of adjunct maybe
They're going to put people in a room and turn on skype for headquarters. Ha
No way. I don't believe this
How can they downsize academics???? What's wrong with them??????
