You can take DG and his "spellbinding classrooms" and shove it.
Darren Gold was all fluff and those who followed that type of leadership was also fluff. Just all talk, no substance. What support did he really provide but to sell a dream. All talk. Unfortunately, some of our current leadership (Admissions, Career Services) still sell the Darren Gold fluff.
No the worst thing to happen was CCi buying us. Gold was all fluff and no substance. He couldn't even explain what he thought "spell-binding" teaching meant. Lame!
Darren G was a president of a business, not a campus pres. Done.
Darren Gold was a good leader, but not a fit for the situation Heald/ CCI was in. I heard he was brought on because of his investinment ties (gryphon). And that he was supposed to prep Heald for another sale, but it was too late.
Darren Gold? Really? Drink kool aid much?

You're kidding, right? He did nothing. Smoky mirrors. Fluff
I'm obviously not going to change your minds but, given the widespread apathy and incompetence with which Heald, from program director and up is riddled, I'm not surprised that PDs and higher would be glad Gold is gone since his plan was to build competence from instructors on up. At Heald, when someone with real power wants to focus on quality, be afraid you two-bit, self-important, do-nothing's whose only skill is to obstruct and complain.
Darren had no experience working in higher ed, and in his nine month tenure he barely managed to understand our industry and it's regulations. He was enthusiAstic and egalitarian, admirable traits, but he lacked the experience and expertise to navigate the current waters we are in. Perhaps leadership can learn a lesson from him, however, and identify new and authentic methods of communication up and down the chain of command.
Any individual who takes a position as a for profit president, or manager, or pd, is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
You have got to be kidding... he was one of them...
