Yet Another Profit (vs. Education) Group Buying Us

So, everything will remain the same - profit over education. PDs, Student Services, Career Services, Admissions all again served by numbers. Curriculum written to some publisher's books. Teachers left to close their classroom doors and try to IGNORE it all, try to teach BEYOND the objectives, work to get around horrible, albeit profitable, books. We charge so much money and as faculty we have no voice in the true education of the students. I challenge whoever is buying us, and our own campus administration, to allow us to teach without the books, or books our campus and faculty believe in, and show that the course and outcome objectives can be met and exceeded. Isn't it all in the end about education and sending students into the world to be successful? I fear it will be yet again about money without a thought to the long term name of our school.

Who in their right mind thinks that Walden and Grand Canyon University deliver quality education? What nonsense. They supply a credential and charge a lot of money. That does not equate with quality.

"Isn't it all in the end about education and sending students into the world to be successful?" No - in many for profit education organizations (CCI, UofP, ITT, etc) it is al about getting students - any students - enrolled and then keeping them enrolled at the lowest possible cost in order to maximize revenue and profit. The quality of the education matters little. It is simply a means to and end (Title IV dollars). There are some for-profits who deliver a quality education experience (Walden, Grand Canyon University) but their students demographic is much different than CCI.

I don't believe it. Why doesn't anyone know a single thing? It's rumors. Again.

It is very frustrating to be kept in the dark for so long. I've been assuming they're using this as a tactic to get people to quit, so they don't have to do as many layoffs.

Who is the buyer? Is it the Clifford group? Will the college go Christian? It is amazing that there has been no information for employees. Things are just supposed to go on like we are not bankrupt and for sale? There is no way this is taught in business school, even bad business schools. Management needs to lead.
