Without insane sales volume and profit, think north of 8, then long-term you're gone. Also we are now taking the approach of current market protection, so we are waiting out a few details, but again long-term (next 2 to 3 years) we'll massively reduce our retail division. There is however fear that even though retail is volatile it supports aspects of sales through dotcom and the elimination of one will considerably weaken the other. In any case 5 years from now people will go, "oh yeah I remember Staples" trust me borders and circuit city didn't think they were going anywhere until the rug got pulled out from underneath them. Its all over this site, but if you're in Staples retail, GET OUT ASAP.

There is already same day service. It's called I drive my ass down to Staples to get that toner cartridge that they are out if stock on or no longer carry. I get angry, drive back to the office, order it on Amazon, then take the rest of the day off, cause I can't print shit, and watch movies on my iPad with Amazon Prime.
Can a single GM successfully run an 8 million dollar a year Staples store with only $9 an hour supervisors backing him/her up? I'm afraid we will find out soon. #stressful #nosupport #ohhellno
What about the same day delivery initiative and leveraging stores to do that. A few years ago same day was touted as our savior, something Amazon couldn't do. It would've been a retail positive initiative as well but as always lazy management is sitting on thier tails content on drawing fat paychecks.
What does TCE and SSM mean?
