When I left Staples, I thought no one wanted to hire me because I was with office supplies for a long time. Your skills are transferable. I am working for a completely different retailer now that is far removed from office supplies. There are plenty of choices out there. They are more concerned with work ethic, punctuality, willingness to learn, and catching on quickly. I did have to take less pay, but the trade off outweighs the pay. Don't sell yourself short.

Thanks for the confidence boost. Really needed it - and went out on 2 interviews. I really think that is part of their strategy - put people down enough so they feel they can't go elsewhere so they keep enough people to do their bidding. Until they are done with them, then it's "I said GOOD DAY to you SIR!".
Everyone will hire you, just explain you worked for a retail giant during a retail holocaust and even worse top management was refusing the cure.
The first thing I regained when I left Staples was my sanity and my self respect.
