Announced this morning that the Jefferson City office will close December 31. Heard that other remote sites were being given the same info as well today.

Bangkok hiring is purely done for cost. I was tld a few years ago that 3 Bangkok developers could be hired for the price of 1 American. And that the Bangkok developers were easy to deal with. My question is, why not replace all KC based management with Bangkok management, including the CEO? Might as well go all the way...
yes heard it too
Jefferson City was the only office closed that I know of ( I work there...well for now ). People were also let go in India, Quincy, ( one other place I can't remember ), and Kansas City.
Several developers and qa's from both Retirement and TA. Some were top-level employees, not the bottom scrubs.
Heard some people in Jefferson City were given the option to re-locate. Not sure many are taking it. Why move up there when the same thing could very well happen in a couple of years.
Besides, development positions are being filled in Bangkok. Several new-hires in Bangkok recently. It's all about the bottom-line. Fact is the Record Keeping side of business isn't gaining new revenue. Market dynamics have changed in several years. And with the economy set for a correction ( how big of a correction is anybody's guess ).. I'm fairly confident more layoffs are to come.
It'll be a difficult transition no doubt, but life happens. In a way I'm kind of relieved...everybody in the office has been speculating they would close it down for some time. It'll be a difficult transition no doubt, but life happens. Probably best to close this chapter, put DST in the rear-view mirror, and never look back. I truly have no desire to contribute my time or resources to this company whatsoever.
WOW. What other remote sites?
