Thread regarding Accenture Ltd. layoffs

What do you need to have to be a Manager at Accenture

I just joined as a new Analyst and I'd like to advance and become manager one day. I am not aware of any other employee forum so here is my question on layoff.com - What skills and characteristics you need to have to be a Manager at Accenture?

Yup, these comments are right...you need to work like a dog, act like you are the boss of everybody and they everybody else is always wrong wrong wrong, find ways to off-shore everyone around you unless you are already off-shore - if you are in a high cost location and have anyone on your team that is not off-shore, off-shore them all and you will be considered a super hero and then you just need to continue doing this thought your career. But, if you are going to work like a dog to advance there are soooo many more companies that pay a lot better, where you can learn far more, build better character and at least enjoy bits and pieces of your life. At Accenture, it's pretty much all bad and the work you do is really stupid, unintelligent, etc....they have cannibalized themselves so if you are still young, get out....go anywhere. Don't get used to working from home. In the long run, it's not worth it for what you lose in development, working with great people that will develop you, and the opportunity to grow as a person. If you are successful, you become like those that are successful...almost dead.

You need to be in control of things, you need to manage up, you need to manage down. It's tough.

First of all, you need to be able to throw your peers under the bus so you can rank better than all of them. So, that's #1 skill. Furthermore, you need to be able to come up with a super aggressive and unrealistic project plan for your team and to drive he hell out of them until they deliver to the plan. So, work them on weekends, holidays and nights. That kind of sums it up.
