Firings

So I just found out that a DM in the Chicago region was just let go today. Any other things going on?

I don't think a DM controls openings and closings. That is way over a DM's paygrade. They can probably make recommendations for opening a store in a particular market, or closing one that is consistently not making budget. The final decision would be from a SVP or higher.

The openings were probably already in the works when the store closures were announced.

Leases were likely already signed and fixtures ordered.

That is a sign of poor management. If one feels the need to micro-manage people at the GM level that much than either you or they should not be in the respective positions.

This company is failing. It is large enough where the process of failure is time consuming, but nevertheless it will be the end result. Staples backdoor layoffs and store closures can only mitigate the reality of their situation. Anyone wise would leave now, the rest countdown the clock until severance or unemployment. Staples is a joke with no punchline.

It's already noted earlier on blog, DM REDUCTIONS OVER NEXT FEW MONTHS WITH CONSOLIDATED DISTRICTS AND REGIONS.
