Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

EXHAUSTED

Am I the only associate that is exhausted and discouraged everyday I step into work? We are pushed to sell, sell, sell and push everything possible on customers. MOBILE, APPLE, SQUARETRADE, TOTAL SUPPORT...the list is endless, let's just harass the customer and lose their return business while we are at it. We have a BTS planner to set and no payroll to do so. The poor excuse for bankable hours are not enough, the bankable hours for the IS are no longer available after last week, the hours in my store are less than complete coverage while opened yet we are 114% to budget YTD. We are bombarded with freight, more than will fit into the backroom, yet told not to task from 11-2 everyday. How the hell is it all supposed to get completed? Am I the only one who feels this way or can someone give me the answer?

The techs in our store do nothing but walk around and talk to customers. That is when they even come out from behind the tech counter. They do not do their part of the truck or pull lists. O/S does all that for them now with no increase in hours. The cashiers fill ink.

All this and ESP and tech sales and phone upgrade checks and sales have not gone up.

There are not enough hours to even work the trucks, much less set back to school or do price changes or filling. Then when DM or Corporate come in its a shit storm and we rush to fix everything. Now it's even worse, not being able to do anything for three hours a day. If they want to pull this shit they need to provide enough hours for an early morning crew or an overnight crew.

No, you are not the only one that feels like this. Selling is no problem, if all I had to do all day was talk to customers it would be fine. This company needs a lesson in logistics. It is not possible to help every customer that needs assistance(and shutting down all productivity between 11-2) and complete all the tasks that need to be done.

I think you're right about the sales push driving away customers. Whenever I go to a big box store and am harassed by a salesperson, I never return. Amazon.com is never pushy.

Dude (or dudette), I feel the same way. Too much stuff and no one there to do it. Receiving completely full of freight and nowhere to put it. I don't know how long you've been with the company, but BTS is right around the corner and it will only get worse. I just go to work to get a paycheck. You have to just let your frustrations go and realize that there IS no way to do it all and just work on things when you can. If they don't get done, tomorrow is another day. Oh, and the selling thing... yeah in my store there isn't much pressure to sell but I can tell by your wording that things are different in your store. You can't make people buy something that you wouldn't buy so I'm not a fan of that either. I do not buy warranties on anything. Period. Electronics only go bad when you're outside of the warranty period anyway, unless they are cheap chunk in which case the warranty is not worth putting money into anyway. :)
