Teacher Appreciation Day: Here we are getting ready to head into the last week of July and still not a peep (that I have seen) regarding teacher appreciation day details. Scores of teachers have come in to the store and voiced via our Facebook page asking when the event will be. I'm beginning to worry that we either are not having one this year or it will be announced too late. Teachers are an important customer base of ours. Not only do they buy a good chunk of their supplies via our sales, they also refer their students to our stores as well. Is this going to be another PR nightmare for our company? Adding to the list of: Copic Markers Pricing Fiasco, Sharpie Pricing Fiasco, No longer having the ability to order mobile online....what next?
My second beef has to do with the recent Wall Street Journal article regarding product being given away with absolutely no quantity limits or even monitoring. Check it out for yourself ( http://online.wsj.com/articles/when-staples-offered-items-for-a-penny-state-workers-ordered-kleenex-by-the-pound-1406169004 ). It just baffles me how someone could let this go. Anyone that has worked in a retail store knows that when something is super cheap people will buy a ton of it. Even if they don't need the quantity. So I ask....what is going on? WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS!
