(easy way to cut labor costs in half...get rid of union, hire non-union, expect same production) Closures: Spokane, Fort Worth Rxs and Las Vegas back end. 90% closures: Tampa, Columbus back end. -100 Volunteer RPh layoffs @ Cols. West (if 100 not met, these become mandatory based on seniority). 1800 total employees got sacked today.

I used to work at medco and express scripts. 15 years of service. When esi bought out medco, they say patient first.. what a joke. the patient comes last. even the client came last. I saw so many instances when the client was overcharged on everything, we reported it to management numerous times, management said they will deal with it when they are done dealing with xyz. esi gets caught by the client and blasted atomic style, and they blamed the csr/pca. they pay froze everyone, took away or cut bonuses, got rid of all the tenured people who knew correct answers instantly.. to replace them with clueless temps who work full time with no sick time, vacation, or insurance. its no wonder the customers get such misleading or erroneous information. horrible company.
Everything said is so true. ESI does not care about the patients or the employees. It's all about the stock holders and George Paz's pocket. Moral is so low that people hope they get layed off. People are looking for other jobs. It's a modern day sweat shop. I talk with patients and they hate esi. So many have canceled using esi and pay more out of pocket just so they don't have to deal with us. We are so scripted and ignorant as to the entire process, it's no wonder they hate us so. We are calling patients to inform them that drugs are on back order or discontinued from the manufacturer, one being namenda (which is an alzheimer's drug)- really?? calling people that have alzheimer's that gets them so upset that they cry because they don't understand what we are telling them. Come on- how cruel is that. It's like abuse to these patients. If we are lucky enough to speak with a caregiver, they get upset to think that their loved ones will be without medication. It would take 8 pages to tell all that goes on at esi and how horrible it is. I have morals and values - it's about real live people - not about stuffing my pockets at the peoples expense. I for one am looking to get out of there before it ruins my mental ability. Our motto is... if it makes sense it's not the express scripts way. NOTHING MAKES SENSE to the good workers. I hope you go down express scripts....
CVS Caremark is stealing many clients from Express this year. The impact won't be felt until next year. Not sure if Express will layoff more people and shut more facilities next year. Good luck yo you all!
Was it really a surprise? ESI has known for a while that with the new health care regulations that that weren't going to make a profit. Paz is not a good businessman. He got played by David Snow ( former CEO Medco) Snow knew what was coming and he got Paz to buy Medco. ESI will be eventually sold or taken over buy a company that knows how to run a business. Good luck to all of the former employees that got used and abused.
Watch out Customers! ESI is run by engineers who are production oriented and not patient centered. Patient safety is already at risk and will only increase due the profits before patient care. If you have ESI, check with your employers about switching to another PBM for better service and patient safety. I am leaving because I can not ethically perform my job in the patient interest.
so many opportunities out there? not in my state, not for pharmacists. I don't know what everyone is going to do there are 55 pharmacists being layed off in North Versailles, PA and there are not 5 let alone 55 openings..
I was let go and I will not regret it for a moment - it was time to move on as ES is a sinking ship and all of us will be better off if we move on. There are so many opportunities out there and we'll be just fine. The pay was crap anyway, so good bye Express Scripts, we'll never see each other again. I feel sorry for my buddies who are still there...
This company is so bad most people were somewhat relieved to be laid off. In the end most of us will be better off i know it!
