I was laid off last week after 22 years with CSC. All I got in return was my accrued vacation pay and 8 weeks pay in lieu of notice. They offered no severance. Has anyone successfully sued for CSC for severance?

you would need to have an insider within HR to help your case in documenting an ongoing pattern if in fact, it was age discrimination that led to your dismissal. Doubtless you'd be able to find one unless they were also agrieved.
Good luck!
BTW, I was rifd in 2011 as a field manager assigned to a client site.. totally billable too. I explored this at the time and concluded the only people who win are employment lawyers. Let it go and move on.. also Remove any 401k money with them post haste!
If your in a right to work US State, you can't sue because you were laid off. The days of severance is long gone!
Sorry, I have to say your comments are all true. The managers who speak up get canned too.
Honestly, I wouldn't bother. I mean, do what you think is right but if any CSC employee thinks the corporate CSC people care about about them then they are quite simply, wrong. I was RIF'd after 17 years and the person that RIF'd me flubbed it to the point where I counted 3 possible Federal labor violations and at least 10 violations of the CSC Ethics Handbook. I spoke to a lawyer and the lawyer would have been more than happy to take my money even though he said there was a slim chance of anything coming from it. Suddenly it dawned on me that there is one segment within that you never hear about having to deal with lay offs, cutting, downsizing, etc. Who? CSC's lawyers. They never get laid off. Google for a bit and you'll see that CSC has almost perfected the stall tactic in legal proceedings. For me, after I got over feeling like an underpaid a**hole idiot for staying with CSC for so long I realized that, for my own peace of mind, getting away from CSC (regardless of how) was a positive. On my account, the AE and SDM were jokes and it seemed like for every one team member there were 3 or 4 managers or "leads" all saying different things. A lot of the rank and file were miserable because the work environment was toxic.
If you do sue them then I hope you take them to the wood shed and ruin them. CSC needs to know that telling low level leadership to cut employees with no regard for their quality of work or dedication is most likely at least one reason why very few are buying Mr. Lawrie's "turn around" talk.
Good luck in any decision you make.
You have a case here (IMHO) - hit them
Just sue them - you'll win 100% - this might be age based too
I am sorry to hear this - I think you have a good case here, however, I would not accept the 8 weeks they are offering and go straight and sue them. I am sure many lawyers will take the case on contingency. Good luck and god bless.
you are lucky to get some money. Most companies will just find reasons to fire people instead of laying them off. Be grateful!
