Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

A darker time for the world of office supply peons.

The DM reductions will be combined with RVP and SVP eliminations. Most of this transition will take place across the next 6 months. Slowly but surely the company is eliminating brick and mortar veterans. Our website was recently beaten out for Apple as Number 2, for the most utilized profit based website. The stores will start to "Feel the pinch," with as much as half the labor allocation being reduced. Stores receiving no new high ticket merchandise with a declining operating profit can expect to be placed on the cut list pretty quickly. Apple and mobile are our two largest revenue generating new sales initiatives (A very bad sign) and they are floundering in our supervisor run stores... It's unfortunate to be so negative, but the employees of a soon to be extinct company need some honest info. Next time you work, look around at your store, your district, do you see qualified new personnel? Do you see the face of future business? Do you even see the stale mediocrity that brought the business to where it is today? Today our stores are empty, are people fatigued, our company tired and surely soon to be over.

The funny part about all this is that

A. It is probably true B. Even with the consolidation of DM and VP positions and deeper cuts in store payroll, the remaining DMs and VPs will be even more demanding and nasty in effort to prolong their own doomed positions.

This is why so many associates do not care about Staples "ASAT" survey. It is rigged to put all blame on store GMs rather than the Corp. office, where most associates know the problems REALLY come from.

I'm resigning here pretty soon. I saw this internal communication and was uncomfortable with the ramifications.

Beyond the thousands of staff reductions I foresee a major number of resignations from leaders seeing the sickening direction of the company.
