Corporate greed in it's purest form. They simply have no consideration for their employees at all. No wonder people would rather work at McDonald's and Walmart.

There are Two holidays that you don't mess with, one is Easter and the second is Christmas! Poor Poor decision home office! I Think this decision will end up hurting our company! For being so smart, that was a pretty Dumb decision! It's also about what you stand for! I guess upper Management just doesn't get it!

What the hell is wrong with this company they want you work for peanuts, do magic tricks, and spend every waking minute making them more money. Well I will don't give up anymore if my time with family and friends for Staples. Let the big people at the top come and work in the stores Easter Sunday that includes the Regional Manager and the District Manager!

It's not so bad working on a holiday. It's when you get treated with such disrespect and contempt by your managager that you dread going to work each day. When you work and your manager makes up their own rules that break all Staples policies ....and when you do your job..and do the right thing...you get punished for it.

The worthless service plan was another way Staples robbed customers. Most of the time the techs could not diagnose the problem. Because most of the time the techs had no training or experience. The computer had to be sent to a service center...where ..surprise ...surprise ...the problem was never solved and the poor customer had to go to a real computer repair shop to administer a real diagnosis.

I agree. I just saw a TV ad for W.B. Mason the other day and it reminded me of Staples earlier days when they actually cared about the customers. When we were opened for the holiday, our General Manager would tell us the rebates just got the people into the store and that it doesn't matter if we honor them. It was part of the culture in our store. If you were lucky, the customer would get their rebate.

Eventually the GM would tell customers to "go to the manufacturer" to get their rebate...and as usual....it was "lost" and there was "no record" of the rebate in question. We were always told the rebates are the last priority and the only thing mattered was if we got the customer's money!

Wow, this is just another example of corporate greed and idiots like Otis displaying his lack of caring for associates. All this does is continue to lower associate morale in stores. Most associates already don't care about their jobs or if Staples succeeds as a company. Many are anxiously awaiting to here that their store is closing so that they might get a small chunk of severance and motivation to find another job. This type of action furthers my belief that corporate wants to close retail and continue as a .com company.
