If Marquette were serious about cutting costs, it would do well to start firing some of the many lavishly paid administrators.
Why does a cut of 25 people make headlines? In the real word outside academia, this goes on every day.
Could any degree, let alone from Marquette, be worth $47,000 a year? Nationwide, students now owe $1.8 trillion in college debts. The entire system of higher education is severely sick, and Marquette's mini-action makes a difference only to the poor underlings who are getting canned. (One hopes that the list of victims has a proper representation of blacks and women.)
