Having been part of the Marquette community for almost 30 years, I have seen many blatant abuses of how money is spent. The upper tier of salaried administrators and the lavish spending that they are allowed on Marquette's dime is appalling. It is hard for me to grasp how Marquette can cut 25 jobs of hard working, long standing, middle management positions, who more than pull their salaried weight on a daily basis!
I don't disagree that budget cuts are sometimes necessary, but I feel that the cuts could have effectively come from other areas. I am stunned at Marquette for the abrupt manner in which these employees positions were terminated, devastating them and their families.
I would like to add that I am very appreciative of the time and commitment that some of the people that were terminated have given me over the years. Your support has allowed me to achieve my goals and succeed. I have excelled because you had made it possible for me, not only with your guidance and assistance, but also your invaluable friendship!
My heart goes out to everyone who was cut and hope that everyone's search for a new position is short and successful. God Bless.
