I left Sabre about one year ago and am truly appreciative of the opportunities they provided to me. For this reason I am really saddened to be reading how many of you are going through a really tough time right now. My thoughts are with you.
I will not disclose where I worked or at what level but I will tell you that my opinion is that Sabre is having an identity crisis brought about by poor senior management over the last few years. There was clearly disagreement between Tom and Sam over the future of the company. Tom wants this to be a technology company and Sam was more comfortable with the Travel identity. The sad news for Tom will be that he really does not know technology or how to play there. He is a travel industry executive and will be eaten alive by pure play tech companies. Sam was too removed for the last few years and Tom is in denial about who Sabre is.
Sabre is fat and slow and is up against a hungry competitor. I can assure you that Sabre has prepared you well and that you will find gainful employment elsewhere. The change is hard but you will find a home elsewhere.
