Thread regarding National Grid PLC layoffs

Tom King's legacy

We'll remember him as a guy who brought National Grid to its knees. Upstate NY folks just hate him. We'll be letting more people go, we lost over 10% of people over last several years and National Grid is not the same company any more. If you can go somewhere else, bail right now as NG will continue to sink. We are losing billions at this point and our current management lineup cannot turn things around as they are incompetent.

Many departments in UNY are completely understaffed and poorly managed. It’s a real problem. Work life balance and the ability for employees to realistically meet corporate goals is driving many white collar employees to leave the company in 2023. Everyone sees it, but nobody addresses it.
The company is very focused on DEI and is obviously promoting many employees based on minority group (race/s-x/LGBTQ/etc.) status rather than demonstrated ability.
This was once a really great company to work for, but if you plan on progressing your career and having a work life balance, I would not suggest employment in UNY (not sure about other regions).
Utility companies are not typically thought of as having a high pressure work environment, however unrealistic goals and completely disconnected leadership teams are turning the place into a meat grinder for those that want to do a great job.
