HP Cuts in 2014

The issue here is much bigger than just the layoff figures noted in the article below. Top and quality people are leaving, if they haven't already. Mediocre resources and slackers are left. Fresh blood, new college hires take off as soon as they can. This is the death spiral that all big tech companies go through. In short, All big tech companies are at risk now, Apple and maybe Google have a reprieve for a couple more years. As an old, grizzled Valley technology veteran, I know this is the way it works. HP is pretty much doomed and will be buried by new server tech by the end of 2015 or 2016. As it happens, we'll end up selling our name to a Chinese company. In the process, Meg will get super rich, the senior execs will be taken care off big time, nothing to worry about there. They will kill the company, but personally they will do very good. Yet, we should have no fear for the valley. One of the hundreds of new companies will step in and take HP's place. That's the way it works here, it's a perpetual cycle and there is nothing we can do about it. Move on...
