Any news about layoffs at Ciena (Ottawa)?

So what about new hires? How soon does a new hire have before they are shown the door? Or are the layoffs mostly people who have been there 5+ years?
A lot of people who were associated with ciena since inception were shown the way out today. Only reason was to decrease the OPEX.
