Layoffs at ACN are a normal thing, at the same time I can tell you (I’ve been around for about 10 years) that the company will do everything possible to avoid them. Accenture invests a ton into each resource (you’ve been to St. Charles many times and took some CBTs, right) and the recruiting process is fairly complex and expensive. So, each resource is valuable and Accenture will try to keep you as long as possible. On the other hand, our P&Ls are managed tightly so any jitters in the marketplace sends the senior folks it a controlled panic mode and planning (including layoffs) starts immediately. We typically lag a bit behind the market when it comes to both hiring or layoffs, so during the boom times we’ll be short on resources as it takes time to hire, the same applies to downsizing as we typically wait to see if the downturn cycle will be short, etc… Not sure if this helps, but that’s my view. Try to stay off the bench, be on the project, contribute, and you’ll be fine – easier said than done, but that’s kind of the rule of thumb here, nobody who’s on a project got ever laid off, so stay chargeable and you are golden… My 2 cents only…
