This company is imploding and will continue to do so as it's unable to restructure. Emerson has many, many layers of management, every one of them has it's own agenda and is stalling change. Many people will stick around for few years and will milk salary and benefits doing nothing? For what? We've let 15K people go over last few years and will continue to do so, but the real leaches always get by and continue to suck everyone's blood.

Building a network closet, server room, or data center, particularly when remote (including co-location), involves a major investment of time, effort and money. Often, challenges are encountered getting different components (racks, cooling, remote access, etc.) to work seamlessly, delaying when operations can go on-line. This delay can be costly, and pose a risk to the business. See one example here, http://www.pcworld.com/article/2052960/nsa-data-center-suffers-meltdowns-is-delayed-by-a-year-report-says.html

Long term support can be costly, with limited staff, particularly for remote locations. Also, with the different components (racks, cooling, remote connectivity, etc.) from different vendors, support often involves working with different vendors, with different levels of capabilities. Few, if any, will have localized support.

The SmartCabinet™, SmartAisle™ and SmartRow™ converged infrastructure from Emerson Network Power is a simplified, standardized and quickly deployable data center environment with significant CAPEX (10%) and OPEX (27%) savings over conventional designs.

This complete infrastructure solution allows customers to easily deploy and effectively manage an integrated IT infrastructure without being limited by building systems such as fire suppression and cooling. Our customers are telling us (references are available) that Emerson solutions are well “integrated” and is much easier to install and use over time, compared to “manually” putting all the pieces together in building a network cabinet, server room, and data center. See Facebook executive brief, attached.

• Immediate CAPEX savings, economies of scale

• Reduced long term OPEX

o “integration” problem solved

o One source of support for entire cabinet/aisle/row

o eliminate dealing with multiple vendors for one problem, for faster, easier resolution

• Global company with localized support

• Fits well with Cisco FlexPod and Digital Ceiling
