Can the company really say with a straight face its values are Professionalism, REAL value to our customers, Integrity, Demonstrated Financial Strength and Employer of Choice? HMM lets discuss..

Professionalism - well anyone who has been part of or watch this "downsizing...(lets call it what it is) can say that senior management has been anything but professional. Hiding behind the Boston Consulting group, developing organization strategy and design on the back of a napkin making up as we go is not the definition of professional in most peoples views. But hey maybe the senior VPs, CEO's and all those people at Boston Consulting Group see it differently.

Real Value to Customers - not sure this has anything to do about creating customer value - shareholdere value hopefully because I'm a shareholder and if I have to see people who have worked at the company for years kicked to the curb then lets hope my shares go up but I can't see the customers getting value.

Integrity - well definitely not holding true to this value in my book. Again hiding behind the kids at Boston Consulting group talking about efficiencies etc when it is really about cutting costs is not about integrity. Does senior management really think that the majority of the people in the company buy the corporate babble about giving people more opportunities for growth. If those people are in India or Manila ..maybe. More growth really means people left behind will have to pick up the work of people that have been kicked out. We all know it so why not just say it.

Demonstrated Financial Strenght - well hopefully are financial strength is not compromised to the point we fall further down the financial services pecking order. Hopefully we have not lost sight that if advisor lose confidence in our company our goose is cooked. But then again maybe the boston consulting group has some new ideas about how to sell insurance..bill boards with phone lines to India ..Hi I would like to buy some critical illness insurance please!

Employer of Choice - Human Capital is the difference maker it is not technology, it is not product it is the people in the organization that make things happen and build the brand. People that did their job and then contributed to Ride for Heart, Hope Springs, LPGA and all the other things that helped manulife become a important company to Canadians. Well hopefully the team and Boston Consulting group will serve be at the Ride for Heart and greet spectators at the LPGA because the people who once wanted to do that for the company either can't be bothered or will be too busy doing the work of the people that left. I would say employer of choice is a value that the suits might have a hard time convincing people that it is still a core value of the company! Wishing everyone who has delivered so much to the company who are no longer there all the best..this company became what it is because of your contributions and the thousands of other employees and advisors who the Boston Consultanting group has never met and has no idea what you do or did!
