After being sold to VF Corporation for $2.2 billion less than a year ago, The Timberland Co has laid off an unspecified number of its 750 employees. The Stratham, New Hampshire-based company cites ‘structural changes’ as the reason for the lay offs.

Robin Giampa, Timberland’s director of corporate communications, commented to seacoastonline.com, ”We are continuing to evolve our organizational structure so that it is better aligned with our long term growth and profit objectives. Unfortunately, this evolution includes hard choices about people, and has impacted colleagues within the Timberland community. Over time, growing the business and adding new capabilities should actually result in more Timberland jobs being added in the coming years.”
