Judging by the comments here the biggest problem with the company seems to be leadership. Leadership appears to be lacking in a few key areas - integrity, vision, accountability, strategic thinking, a few to the long term, innovation and bold thinking. But, they seem to excel at dressing well and patting one-another on the back. I guess these are the things that really matter to employees, customers and investors. I'll keep watching but I certainly won't be buying products or stock of Manulife until such a time that this short term experiment self-corrects.
