There appears to be a power struggle going on as well. Someone is getting impatient for Don to go so that he can take over the CEO job. Then there are people already lining up for the COO & CFO jobs as well. The cuts are to 'demonstrate' their ability to deliver results. Performance is not a criteria for this cut. People who were just promoted to VP & SVP have been let go. They are replaced with buddies.
