POUGHKEEPSIE - Judge Cecelia Morris approved the sale of the Roseton and Danskammer power plants Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Before Morris gave her approval, the plants' owner, Dynegy, agreed on a provision in the sale document that requires overdue property taxes to paid at the closing. It wasn't immediately clear whether the full $24 million in overdue taxes owed would be paid to Orange County, the Town of Newburgh and the Marlboro School District.
The total value of the sale, including assumed liabilities, is $68 million, according to court papers.
The buyer of Danskammer plans to raze the coal-powered plant.
