A Harris CapRock Employee says "Harris CapRock acquires Ultra Teleports, Perth for $2M USD"

‎Friday, ‎August ‎24, ‎2012, ‏‎1:03:25 PM

From Harris CapRock Employee (Current Employee) — Rating 1.0 out of 5 — Thu, 23 Aug 2012

Pros

Will allow us to move out of the Bayswater warehouse from where we have been based for the last 5 years (next to the portable toilet company on one side and the cabinet makers on the other side!!).

Cons

Existing Ultra Teleport customer contracts will need to be moved over to Harris CapRock and Harris CapRock’s competitors who are currently using the Ultra teleport, will probably have to move their hubs and equipment out of the teleport in the next few months! One of the key members of staff that has been asked to stay with the teleport has already rejected the offer - as he does not want to work for Harris CapRock, another is believed to be considering alternative options. Newsat (Harris CapRock’s current teleport partner) will now have a real competitor in the Perth, Teleport space, which they could loose future business to.

Advice to Senior Management

Need to be open, honest and communicate ‘ethically’ with current Harris CapRock Staff, Ultra Teleport Staff, along with Ultra Teleport customers and partners, and Newsat, to avoid creating turmoil and further uncertainty in the Australia market.

A Harris CapRock Project Management says "Harris CapRock and Harris Corporate - Un ethical behavior!!"

‎Tuesday, ‎August ‎21, ‎2012, ‏‎5:47:06 PM

From Harris CapRock Project Management (Current Employee) — Rating 1.0 out of 5 — Tue, 21 Aug 2012

Pros

Harris Corporate promotes its self as one of the worlds top ethical companies!

Cons

APAC was at the receiving end of exactly the same unethical treatment as the UK, Europe and USA, at the annual meeting at Harris Corporate HQ in Melbourne Florida, a whole level of management was asked who wanted to apply for the APAC Regional Directors position, all of the people who applied and were in line for that job were either fired or resigned within months of the meeting, due to the forced changes in their job scope and conditions without any consultation!!! ...the first they knew of the changes to their roles and reporting lines was when the new Harris Corp organisational chart was released with zero consultation!! Even the Vice President and General manager for APAC (Ian Ford) was demoted overnight to GM/MD for Australia! ...It doesnt get much more unprofessional than that! Especially considering Harris Corp promoting it's self as one of the worlds most ethical companies, this behavior was totally unethical!! The teams that were previously reporting to all the managers that where fired (including the MD for Singapore) or had resigned due to the changes to their job and reporting line without consultation, then ran around like headless chickens for months with no management or reporting line, until eventually one of the 'Account Managers' was promoted to 'Director for Australasia'. Since he is from India and the VP for the region (based in Singapore) is and Indian / Pakistani, they proceeded to hire a completely unexperienced and unqualified team composed of Indian call centre people and Indian people straight out of school to manage key accounts such as BHP - to save costs and boost their margins. However the inexperienced team caused them to loose two multi-million dollar projects, which were key to the regions growth. After Harris CapRock's protests to the companies concerned, where rejected and other much smaller competitors were formally awarded the projects, Harris CapRock responded by saying these multi-million dollar projects 'are not our core business'!!

Advice to Senior Management

Top management at Harris Corporate need to practice what they preach about Ethical behaviour and start treating their employees ethically, with respect and consultation when changes are required!

A Harris CapRock Project Manager says "Unprofessionalism at its peak"

‎Monday, ‎August ‎13, ‎2012, ‏‎5:44:20 AM

From Harris CapRock Project Manager (Current Employee) — Rating 1.0 out of 5 — 1 of 1 found this helpful — Sun, 12 Aug 2012

Pros

Salary is paid on time and frequently is of the correct amount.

Cons

Would you believe it? The Top Management has a shrink who advises them on how to manage the masses of ordinary headless chickens aka non-managers. Management has no connection with the real world! They eat their young, any budding young guy showing some aspirations or highlighting the truth is sacked. Experienced managers are relegated to make room for the brown nosing bunch. The CEO along with his blue eyed team of CCOs, CTOs, COOs are the most arrogant and disjointed group you will ever meet. They miss no oppurtunity of showing whos in charge! Its always about his vision and how he plans to take over the world. The EMEA MD takes offence if someone talks straight to him or exposes the issues of the high level management. Account Manager who was chums with the CEO is now VP Sales in EMEA. Has no management experience apart from having the word manager at the end of his previous job title "account manager". He still spends time cracking un-appropriate jokes and openly scheming with his trustful few against the other departments. Biggest mistake of my professional career, joining Craprock.

Advice to Senior Management

The people in the top management would not survive a month in another organization, such is the level of their unprofessionalism and lack of skills.

A Harris CapRock Director says "‘Take your cowboy boots off at the door’ (Tom Eaton, CEO, 2011 Sales Meeting – Harris Corp HQ, Melbourne Florida"

‎Friday, ‎August ‎10, ‎2012, ‏‎5:31:22 PM

From Harris CapRock Director (Current Employee) — Rating 1.0 out of 5 — 2 of 2 found this helpful — Fri, 10 Aug 2012

Pros

Harris CapRock is offering much lower pricing to companies with smaller budgets, or where there is a lot of competition for a particular project.

Cons

The latest round of job losses at Harris CapRock this year, has revealed a culture of price gouging from some of their top clients, where they are charged up to 10 times more than new customers with smaller budgets. Yagnesh Rajendran (know as the ‘cowboy’ or ‘Hustler’ of the sales department), then celebrates these deals by taking the who CapRock team out for an evening of drinks. Harris CapRock is essentially a reseller of satellite bandwidth and teleport services, which in the case of their loyal customers such as Chevron, Exxon and ConocoPhillips - handled by Yagnesh, are marked up by as much as 10 times or more,.

Advice to Senior Management

We still need to embrace Tom Eaton's message from the 2011 Sales meeting and 'take our cowboy boots off at the door'!!

A Harris CapRock Director says "Harris CapRock - FCSA Disqualification, a serious multibillion dollar blow!"

‎Thursday, ‎August ‎09, ‎2012, ‏‎6:52:52 PM

From Harris CapRock Director (Current Employee) — Rating 1.0 out of 5 — 2 of 2 found this helpful — Thu, 9 Aug 2012

Pros

The Defence Satellite Transmission Services-Global program is being replaced by the Future Comsatcom Services Acquisition (FCSA) program. The Defence Satellite Transmission Services-Global program has been the Pentagon’s primary vehicle for procuring commercial satellite bandwidth and related services, with annual spending in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Cons

The multibillion-dollar U.S. government procurement of commercial satellite telecom solutions that has stretched out nearly two years faces additional delays following a protest by an incumbent contractor that was disqualified in April. Harris CapRock of Fairfax, Va., Harris CapRock was bounced from the competition to provide end-to-end managed network services to U.S. defense and civilian agencies under the Future Comsatcom Services Acquisition (FCSA) program, according to multiple industry sources. The company filed a protest May 7 with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), a move that effectively puts contract awards on hold.

Advice to Senior Management

The disqualification is a serious blow to Harris CapRock, one of three companies that for the past decade have cobbled together satellite solutions for U.S. Defense Department customers u
