About one month ago, five long-time manager/director level employees were terminated at Buchs (Fluka), including one 55-year old guy with 30+ years service; in addition, two senior level sales and BD guys, one at Munich, the other in Italy, were summarily dismissed. Then there was another round (not sure of the exact number) in Europe last week. What is going on? Top-line number must be terrible--we'll know on Tuesday. Execs can jiggle/finnagle the earnings per share number through a variety of accounting maneuvers, but they cannot disguise the top-line revenue number, good or bad. Looks like the Ta Ta motor guys are coming face-to-face with reality.
