I agree with everything being said here, but it's not just about the faculty and tenured salary types.
There is corruption and a lack of accountability from the top down. You've got guys in physical plant that have been there for decades and now earn $25 to $45 an hour (or more). They are called to change a light bulb or a stained ceiling tile. Any idiot could do that in minutes. They report 8 hours for that job. It took them 5 minutes and they hung out at the cafe the rest of the day. Anyone who has come into that department and tried to do an honest days work was forced out by the Cuban mafia because if you don't comply with the rest of the gang and especially if you don't speak Spanish, you will be persecuted and hounded till you can't take it and you leave.
The entire Medical School is a corrupt mafia...and Shalala is the Godfather.
