I know that ZirMed also engaged in a series of mandated "write-ups" and "performance reviews" of staff at the same time they were going through a severe revenue shortage in late 2010. They essentially targeted the most costly human resources and then strategically put them on notice. They also began to relegate legacy staff to small groups that were "destined for exit" due to the nature of their challenge put before them. They also engaged the aforementioned turnaround artist/sales director in behavioral based psychological manipulation of staff and a series of other struggles began to surface between the turnaround artist and Jerry Merrit and Jim Lacy and the executive management and the turnaround artist and his assistant, who interestingly, was hired as an outside 1099 contractor, and not considered an employee of the company. it was clear the outside turnaround artists was forced upon the executive management by the Venture capital firm with a board member on ZirMed's board. The company is truly in a state of interesting steady decline into just a puttering background in the industry. It is so sad to see the company go down this way and, eventually, there will be a headline reading that all employees are gone. At that juncture I don't know what Jim Lacy, his minion of mobster-esque finance people, and Jerry Merrit will do for work. I hope Mike McCauley, the director of HR, can give them directions to the unemployment office down on Cedar st.
