"Oh hey, we aren't going to give you any additional money in the form of a bonus to make up for giving you nothing last year. Instead, we'll just steal from the fiscal 2011 payout and let you have it a few months early. Also, since you're all such great employees, go ahead and leave an hour or so early the Friday before the 3 major holidays of the summer."...maybe that will shut them up for a while.
