Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Division among ranks persist ?

I follow most of the commentary on this site and have to finally express my thoughts. As a lowly T-Rate laid off almost a year ago I find it a bit disturbing that some find it appropriate to disparage the T guys for their lack of value to the operation in 273. While a bunch of people may fall in to the category of just non-essentials that fill the needs of the Company there are many more, myself included, who have an actual educational and work background to justify our employment but unfortunately chose a prior work situation that led us to being downsized and looking for a possible future in ending our working career with GE. The rhetoric of "Union Brothers" was a lesson I learned was just a matter of B.S. as the Union took their Dues but the rank and file rubbed it in about the D vs T situation -so much about about "brotherhood? I hope to be back but also hope maybe the culture will accommodate those unfortunate ones that are returning but still prop up the Union coffers.

CEO wanna be down here... don’t confuse an education with intelligence.... while I was there I saw many “educated id--ts” the real reason the company is going down the toilet...checking the boxes ...”networking” the real a$$ kissers....doing the two year rotations with no experience in anything moving on to the next rung on the ladder.... the root cause of the roach infestation .... educated people believing they are intelligent... biggest thought process error that will eventually cost the company everything

We can all thank CD for the division within the ranks, along with current hall's top leadership.

Oh the hall realized it full well when they pushed for it with bull c-ap rhetoric from the company. Those sloths are no longer working and they knew they wouldn't be around to listen to all the T and D complaining about it. Todays leadership is all about themselves, no different than the last 2 groups, except its a deeper disregard for the workers with todays group. Never stop looking to better yourself and your family, there is another job out there somewhere waiting to be filled, GE and 301 could care less if you stay or go!!

The company played the union like a fiddle, getting the hall to push for the 2 tier pay system, then having the hall push for the rate combination. When you lay down with dogs, you get fleas, and unfortunately the 301 hall is infested, all you need to do is look at recent shenanigans to see that. When there is no unity at the hall, how can there be any on the shop floor?

Oh...they realize... the two tier system worked about as well at GM as it is working at GE.... reality though ...it was implemented as a last ditch effort before they closed down truck & bus at the Moraine plant.... you know...save cost while the pigs at the trough slop it up ... then they filed bankruptcy blaming it on poor quality, suppliers, and union pay...sound familiar? This sh$t show has already played before...

Well put and as a D guy I sympathize with your thoughts. Not ALL of us feel the way you describe but it's unfortunate the Union doesn't realize what they created in the 2 tier system-Brother vs Brother !!
