Yes Marsh Carter the best CEO the company ever had. He motivated workers by treating them as
valuable assets to the company,
When he was in charge every gave not 100% but 200% because of his treatment of workers.
After he left then came the bean counters who believed in layoffs, outsourcing, bringing in H1-B workers.
I remember periods of 2 to 3 years with no bonuses and raises of maybe 1% to 2% if they even gave them out.
The beginning of the end for State Street is when Marsh Carter retired.
Actually, some "non-workers" love complaining to HR with slight or imaginary grievances because they believe management will be afraid to lay them off because of potential lawsuits, especially if they fit into one or more protected groups. Smart managers try to make them look good so they will transfer to another group.
@Post ID: @Zy1ixYa-1hth hey also laid off many quiet hard workers. workers who were not very assertive
The reason they are not assertive is because many have lived through 15 years of layoffs.
They are scared to death and do not want to make any trouble by being assertive.
You do know if you have problem and talk to your Boss or HR you can and will have your file marked as a Troublemaker . Which puts you high on the list for the next layoff.
And yes I saw workers who were favorites of the Bosses which meant they were give the ,
-
Easiest assigments.
-
The lightest workloads
-
Last ones to be asked to work overtime or come in on weekends.
Even the "blessed" (by managers) aren't safe anymore, especially if they are VPs or above.
they also laid off many quiet hard workers. workers who were not very assertive and didn't network much, but still did their job. i never saw those friendly with the bosses get laid off
The people exhibiting those poor work behaviors are not necessarily the ones being laid off. I saw those types of behaviors with many SSB employees, especially those with 10 plus years and an established sense of entitlement. I saw some that would schedule a meeting right after lunch and leave right after that meeting ended. The funny thing is they were always sure others were not working enough. Another trick is to block out fake meetings on Friday from 1 to 5 PM (so no one could schedule them into a meeting) and use an excuse to leave for the day.
