Nit wits. Why would they close Westford and keep Herndon and most of super expensive Sunnyvale. Amsterdam and Herndon will close before Westford. There is a huge CS presence there which will be costly to relocate to high turn over Cali. There are a decent number of dev folks that too will never be hired in Cali due to cost and turnover. There are Testers for sales they will never hire in Cali. There are a hundred other positions too that they will not move or make WFH. My guess is Sunnyvale would close a building before Westford is shuttered.
Why wouldn't they take down the lab if they fired all of the guys?
Nobody sits in that building anyways.
They starter disassembling the first floor lab today. Carted stuff into trucks. The office space where the asic guys were laid off is being taken apart.

I would not call it tolerance. It is purely ignorance, arrogance and incompetence. Look around the leadership teams at Juniper. Would you hire any one of them to build a startup with you? I can't think of any one. Not one!
Architect getting ceo is bull sh--. CEO excellence award must be given to folks with at least 3 years of consistent performance.

Didn't AS, the architect behind Tomcat project get CEO excellence award? I think that was in 2015-2016 timeframe.

Excellence award should not be given to any management folks. What they do is coordination and putting pressure. It’s the engineers who deliver.
If AK got ceo excellence award and none of the bras engineers, is AK architected the product, not. Any good engineers. You should ask why none of engineers got this award. Bull sh--?
CEO excellence award is no joke. A few years back a director in marketing was given this highest honor so it must be awarded to the best of the best, bull shïtters.

CEO excellence award at Juniper is a joke. I've seen undeserving folks get this award over the past 10 years I've been at Juniper. 15 years ago, the awards were legitimate with awards going to folks who truly innovated (think ASICs), but now it's mostly fluff.
I was already out of WFD when AK got the CEO excellence award and the revenue surge happened. I wasn't aware that this was temp and due to hardware refresh. What is BRAS revenue these days?

What I fail to understand is why are the remaining good engineers in WFD staying there if BNG becoming irrelevant is true. If it is comp, then be assured that if you are good others pay lot more than Juniper. Do not just look at base salary, look at TC which includes RSUs.

Ak getting CEO excellence award is even a bigger joke. There is a surge in BNG revenue due to hardware refresh and after that the revenues keep dropping and product is getting out of relevance (for sure BNG won't be in picture in coming years). AK is unable to promote any of the good engineers and let many people go due to EGOs and management politics. He talks about right hands and his kids as if he is another Einsteen.
He is an a$$h$$$ and must be kicked out of Juniper along with all his a$$ lickers. Good for Juniper.

@ZuIPcOC-4njd: I was in WFD for 8 years and since I left I have never seen the kind of sh-- that I saw in WFD. No place is perfect, but the extend of dirty politics that happens in WFD is mind boggling. I never saw any single deliverable out of WFD happen on schedule.
A perfect example is the TC project. That project was hyped up like anything, schedules were manipulated by lousy managers and at the end mediocre quality sw was delivered years after the promised delivery date. ICs working in TC project fought amongst each other regularly instead of behaving like a team and working together towards a common goal. ICs would butt lick managers and bad mouth coworkers. Lousy managers would encourage such dirty politics instead of focussing on getting things done. I have never seen such nonsense anywhere else.

I agree there are shítheads everywhere at Juniper, mostly in big shīt ranks in leadership roles, but the biggest concentration is in the shítāke farm in the twin towers in Sunnyvale. They tend to spew shït loads from corporate all the time, and no one even cares when they dump this shīt on the people - even with this shītty stealth layoffs.
Anyway, I get your shīt, and it's hard not to talk about JNPR without mentioning shít because everything stinks about it - the stockprice has gone to shīt too and it stinks to work in this vile cesspool of shīt.

AK got promotion to VP and CEO excellence award sorely due to this $450m revenue. From what you are saying, it seems that was just temp surge in revenue.
WFD shutting down or not is still being decided is what I've been told. What is happening is reorgs, layoffs, and more folks working remotely from home or from the field. Let's hope that there will not be more layoffs if WFD does in fact shut down!

BRAS was a $450m a yr business when I was working in WFD. Why do you say BNG is losing relevance? Has the BRAS market shrunk, or is it that Juniper is getting kicked out of BRAS by competitors?
I assume comments about Contrail and SRX are sarcastic? Nobody would buy these businesses even for free.
It is highly worhy closing the westford office.
BNG,CUPS,USF and SkYAPT products are losing relevance and hence shutting down doesn't impact negatively.
Juniper must sell Contraail for $1B (i,e 5x return from original purchase price of $175m) and make BK CEO of the company.
Juniper must spinoff SRX to compete well against PANW.
That would bump Juniper share price to $100.
Ex-WFD here. WFD engineers worked in adding BRAS functionality to Junos. I am guessing BRAS must be in maintenance mode right now and most work could technically move to BLR. However, not sure if Juniper would risk shutting WFD down and moving 100% of work to WFD.
I worked in WFD for 8 years and can second that it is really a sh--hole and the worst place I worked in. I curse myself everyday that I wasted 8 years of my life in that place. I have nothing but bad memories of that place. The rot is so bad over there that it has reached IC level folks also i.e. not just limited to management. ICs in WFD routinely play dirty politics, blame their co-workers, butt lick their managers in order to move up. The idea is if I need to move up, I need to put my co-workers down. Of course, WFD has bad managers like SP who encourage such behavior. 8 years in WFD and all I learnt is how to dodge these political attacks.
Westford site started with the Unisphere acquisition. Apart from various software products, BNG, High Rent and a host of highly political people can be attributed to this site.
What did Westford work on anyway?
It was high time. Finally one positive decision. WF was always a s..t hole.
