The MyService award got downsized?!?

Please tell me that this is a joke... I just found out that the MyService award certificates we get every 5 years, are now just E-mailed to us?? SERIOUSLY?! Is cvs THAT cheap?? Although truth be told I should have seen this coming. My first two certificates came in nice oversized folders with a catalog of things that you could pick one for free. They were sort of fancy. By 15 years however, it was just a card stock certificate, nothing fancy, and no catalog, just “reward points”. And now for 20 years it will just be emailed? That is REALLY low and cheap. I know cvs doesn’t give a damn about us, but this really takes the cake! One of my co-workers just celebrated 40 years with cvs, and their certificate was emailed. What’s next? Are they going to get rid of Values In Action?

They might... I'm sure a good bit of store managers don't even use VIA

Honey, what is corporate not downsizing? If this surprises you or shocks you in any way, you simply haven’t been paying attention.

Corporate bears a large part in this as they have really “downsized” the impact and importance of employees down to nothing.

Corporate dumps a lot of stuff on the shoulders of store managers. The problem with that is not all managers are engaged enough to do something good for their people. And some just don’t have time. We have the values in action website, Learnet website, MyHr website, all websites designed for the benefit for employees. And yet I’ve never had a manager who promoted these sites and encouraged us to use them. My last service award sat on the desk in the office for almost a week, before I got it. I was waiting for it to be given to me. Never happened, I basically just had to take it. This is the problem with cvs. It’s gotten to the point that rewarding your employees is no longer corporate’s thing, it falls on the individual store managers, and if you don’t have a manager who is engaged enough you’re screwed.

If your manager knows what he is doing he could have it printed in color on good card stock at Staples or something and present it to you framed. I do this for my colleagues and the seem to appreciate it. If it’s a management colleague I have a wall in the office for us to hang all of our service awards.
