T-b-cco Products and the Underage Cashier

From what I understand, come September 2019, a new policy will prohibit the sale of t-b-cco products to any Walgreens customer under the age of 21. Does this mean that a minor cashier will have to call a "Code 21" for a sale of c-gare--es? Working a photo mid-shift on a FRIDAY or SATURDAY with a minor cashier is hard enough with the alcohol sales especially when my shift ends at 6:30 pm or 7:30 pm. Last Friday I was doing some time-consuming cleaning of a bathroom stall which needed serious attention. This was around 5:30 pm, one hour before my shift was to end. I answered one photo call (a simple pickup of prints) and two "Code 21s" while doing this cleaning. Thank goodness I wasn't called for a sale of c-gare--es too! It would be nice if a shift would be required to respond to "Code 21s", if just for a 15 minute window. However, that won't happen. I recently had 4 wood panels ready to place, one after the other, into the heating unit. I asked the shift if she would mind covering any "Code 21s" for the short time it would take me to heat these panels and I could tell that she was not happy with me. So, will I be more miserable after September or will an underage cashier still be able to sell c-gare--es?

The stores I work at, every t-b-cco or alcohol sale needs someone over 21 to process the sale. Which means you have to run across the store for every Code 21, which is a pain if your manager schedules someone under 21 for cashier. They should stop hiring under 21 if this is how they want to go

You don't state whether you are in California where the laws are much stricter. Where I'm at, a minor (16 or 17) can sell c-gare--es without another employee's approval or log-in. The age 21 rule won't change that. The system will still require you to I.D. the customer and the system will refuse the sale if the customer is under 21 starting in September (I thought it was August).

Walgreens in my state doesn't sell alcohol and we don't have a code 21, so your best bet would be to talk to your ASM or SM about what is going to go down with the new rule change.
