Walmart Unemployment Benefits in California

If I work in California and if the store closes am I eligible for any kind of severance? Also, what about Unemployment Benefits offered by the state of California. I should say that I've been with the company for about three years now and there is some possibility that our store in So Cal may be closing (we are not doing that good).

part time associates with three years are NOT eligible for severance. You must be employed for 5+ years as part time. Full time is one year.

Part-timers over 3 years are eligible for severance pay, which does not affect your eligibility for unemployment benefits.

I am in Cali, my store closed and I got the unemployment benefits through CA EDD. You can rest assured you'll be covered (unless they offer you a position in a different store and you decline).

You can see the Californian Unemployment Benefits Eligibility Criteria here:

https://www.edd.ca.gov/unemployment/eligibility.htm

I am pretty sure that part-timers are not covered, at least not here in California. I think Sam's board here on TheLayoff had a similar discussion the other day and there was an example of one part timer asking about unemployment benefits and there were multiple posters saying it's a no-go.

Good luck!
