@ZnXNY7N-1mnc you are so right, I am not in sales but I've known some great sales people the 1's that "could sell snow to an Eskimo" 1 said to me "you sell yourself and throw in your product at the end be it siding, autos or office supplies". People do not purchase from people they don't know or from people they know and don't like. Staples sure had a lot of serious problems but there were answers, SP chose to pillage a weak company, it will be all over very soon,

Halifax, Maitland and Livonia call centers are all under performing. Why you might ask? Here are some answers.

First, because MICRO MANAGEMENT has been proven to be a thing of the past. Inside sales are fed up. Take care of your performers and get rid of the under performers. Why can't this happen you ask? Second, because non skilled managers do not know how to interview. RSD's are equally unqualified to perform such minimalistic tasks. Then, once hired, it takes over 90 days to see what kind of losers they hired. Then it takes HR months to fire them. Finally, the pay is entry level even when goals are met or exceeded. Good luck bringing home any descent commision checks under the new pay structure.

These are just a few reasons with more coming to a town near you.

To be frank, what talented management wants to work for a dying company like Staples? They are getting their butts kicked by Amazon everyday and Staples solution was to try and reinvent the pen. The rebranding was panned outside Staples enclave.

Mid-Market. First off you have SR. leadership trying to steer the ship who do not understand the market or our customers. Go to market, epic failure. Oh, shocker, lesdership again miscalculated quotas and projections. Now, already beaten down, tired, fedup sales people are being told to make more calls, increase talk time and create more inflated c-ap opportunities. The metrics are already set-up to fail. This madness will continue until RG & BB are replaced with a team that gets the market and can connect with their sales teams. HR better be filling the pipeline with pople eager to work for 90 days until they figure out there is no money to be made. Oil that revolving door it's going to get alot of use.

Why so surprised??? Did you really expect anything more? Staples will be a distant memory in the next 3-5 yrs. oh yeah and congrats on the new $5.6 billion in debt load— that should be the final nail in the coffin. once was a great company now is an old has been. The stores are like ghost towns— any talented folks were either laid off or jumped ship long ago. Look I’m sure all the fresh young faces who are making 1/3 of what folks laid off were making are good people and could be talented in time as they get a chance to “bake” in position— but the problem is that is something Staples doesn’t have is time on its side. You got rid of 20+ yrs of talent. The reason people were making so much money was because there is a value to tenure. The customers know it and the companies know it. Do you really think a customer cares who they buy from? Does a customer really value a relationship in sales?? YOU CAN BET YOUR LAST DOLLAR THEY DO!! Cardinal rule in sales 101 is customers buy from people they like, know, and TRUST!!! When you remove that from the equation you alienate your loyal customer base—- as we are seeing now.

Adios STAPLES.....

JG is sweating. Boston Consulting would have gotten an A on GTM if this was an undergraduate school project. But.... in real life, reps are over taxed, have unrealistic goals, are being paid less and the promised support doesn’t exist. Bad recipe for motivating a team.

Remaining sales management runs scared. Most under qualified for their role.
