There are so many VPs in SAP

There are so many VPs, it has been a standing joke you can throw a stone and hit a VP in SAP.

I got to witness first hand how hiring VP's from outside became devastating for my team's morale. They brought in a buffoon from another company and next thing you know this individual is trying to shake things up before they even know whats up or down. Total buffoonery at SAP

My last VP is German, she has had 4 manager roles in the past 8 years.

They can’t fire them, so they just keep moving them.

The standing joke is you just have to outlast your manager at SAP.

@Zl4tVB9-1siu - We are discussing about the internal management problems and organization structure at SAP - not the business world in general. I guess you are not employed by SAP and can't relate to the issues.

So what? There are so many Facebook millionaires. The key question is whether you have money.

Superfluous managers slow down product evolution as each and every manager - relevant or not - wants to justify his/her existence by ‚contributing‘ to decision making.

@Zl4tVB9-tsm - I guess you don't care about the 6 figures salary that they get with their inflated title .... The point is - these individuals are given these senior titles with a fat salary but they don't deserve it.

It's just a job title. Get over it.

"Manager" doesn't mean you manage people anymore, just that you manage something - probably that you manage your work. Similar thing.

Wow, that is insane!! It does not take a genius to see that there is something wrong with this picture. But since everyone at the top management level is a director or a VP, they will turn a blind eye and go with the flow. I wonder why the German executives condone this kind of insane organization structure. Someone should do the math and determine how much these useless VPs and directors are costing the company. Unless someone has the b*lls to do some serious culling of these individuals, the company will never improve.

Is someone working on the book The Rise and Fall of SAP yet?

True. More than 5000 VPs and above at SAP.
