As a CW working in the industrial print section in the USA, I have not heard anything about cutbacks or furloughs yet. The contract service I work for gives us a 30 day notice of cutbacks or contracts ending, it is part of their contract with HP.
All Contingent Workers (CW) on projects on the Print side of business are being furloughed for the month of July. Management thinks it is fine to cut out a month of a person's pay with no reason given, and then expects that same person to want to return? This must be the reputation HP wants...
Please take a good long pause, look at the customer services/so called extended warranties of said product(s) once sold! Who/where do you end up calling and attempting to resolve your grievances with? Be honest now. Are you satisfied with ur end result? Do you fell “made whole”? In the event you are not satisfied., what is your recourse? Search out customer grievances on-line. YOU might just be shocked! Yes., many top companies are “doing: the same., same treatment for paying customers, w/one yr and or extended paid warranties. Maybe we feel like we deserve this? I disagree. We DO have a say., and a choice. Educate ur self regarding how much propriety information/technology is/has been stolen from this fiasco! I.e., best-shoring. Managements at it’s best? I don’t think so!
So sorry for all effected! Until “we” that is, USA working class CITIZENS (like it was 20+ years ago) stand up, VOTE diligently., get proactive....our jobs will “continue” to be slaved out from the Untiled States. And yes, I lost my employment from HP after a healthy run with the “founder’s company”. I will not purchase any products from said companies {parent/sister, or alike). The pendulum swings, always has, always will. The “bottom-line” has devastated the American Workers! Greed is strangling The US blue collar. Please, please, vote this greed out! Best wishes to my fellow staff.
A CW worker that I work with in the print division just went on 20 hours a week from 40. He does not know how long it will last before he goes back to 40 hours a week or if something else is planned.
In Feb., I signed a 10-month contract with HP. Got laid off last week after just 4 months with about 5 hours' notice. Not cool.
Sorry, I was thinking Antonio.
For those in the print division:
Expect the Contract Employees (CW) to be cut or go on half-time like they did last winter. They already eliminated the personal trash containers and the people that emptied them are gone too.
Isn’t he at a different company?
