Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Windows 10 disaster

How is the move from Windows 7 to 10 going?

Windows 10 is more or less ok on my home PC but the lockdown garbage that Sabre has done to it makes it just unusable. The cloud sync to OneSlowDrive would make a new i9 5ghz on all 8 cores feel like an antique 386. I cannot install any of the apps I need to do my job. Most of the apps I need aren't in the Sabre "store". The store where the prices are $0 but you still cannot buy what's on the shelves anyway.

If someone gets a bonus for this fiasco then I must have been teleported to the twilight zone dimension.

What a complete screw up.

Who came up with this idea to screw up Windows 10? Security or JD? Give us regular 10 without this new security junk and it would probably be OK. It seems every new Microsoft "upgrade" is worse than the older version was but Sabre really screwed up this one by including the security and cloud changes too. Just going from 7 to 10 would have been challenging enough. This was just foolish.

Maybe that is why there are people being sacked in the IT security dept. ...

Someone should have lost their job over the windows 10 fiasco. Everything is not only slower it's just effing slow! Every time you open a document it has to get something from the cloud, email is crazy slow and glitchy. Now when I'm forced to close Outlook I just pray it will reopen without an error about my profile. It's just way too slow to be proficient and yes all of my team has the same issues.

Did this have to do with why the security team has layoffs?

"I love my new win 10! It's so fast and has great new security features too!"

Says NOBODY ever...

Have you seen that propaganda on the Sabre TV channel?

I know dozens of people complaining about their new win 10 laptop being slow and all the new security getting in the way of them being able to do their jobs.

I know nobody who is happy with their new win 10 laptop.

It's just a completely absurd quote. Nobody would ever say the win 10 laptop is faster than the old win 7 one because it's way slower. Nobody would ever say that the new security inconveniences were a great new feature. Just ridiculous.

It is fortunate that the cloud never has outages... oh wait....

Just wait until we move our customers to the cloud! They too can press enter and wait forever for a response.

PS, you better not be charging your time to admin. Every hour must be billable!

What are we supposed to charge these 144 hours to?

Admin?

You better believe I am charging every second.

How is this even possible?

This is so far beyond incompetent. There just aren't words for it.

I know! When I saw that about how the cloud sync would take 72 hours and you couldn't work on any of your files during that time I near fell out of my chair!

72 hours??!!

What the freaking heck were they thinking?!

Is it another 72 hours to sync it back to your new PC afterwards? Why yes, yes it is.

It's 144 hours people!

Do you just leave your laptop unattended in the office for 6 freaking days while you go on vacation to Disneyland?!

Of course you don't! You cannot leave it unattended! Someone might steal it. So you are expected to live in the office for 6 freaking days while your laptop syncs to the slow as heck cloud.

Did we actually try to hire to absolute dumbest id--t to make these decisions or were we just lucky?

Ps I too have windows 10 at home on multiple devices and love it. Just in case we again get accused of being resistant to change.

It's sh-- change we're resistant to Karen!

It's worse if you're remote.

The cloud synch tool doesn't work. The only help offered from the soi-disant (Yes, I have regressed to fifteen) help email is to go to the office.

  1. My nearest Sabre office is a flight away.

  2. I am seriously not going to spend the 72 hours straight (the tool collapses if interrupted) at the office required.

Aside from the smell that will emanate from me by day two, my foraging skills have atrophied, and I'm not sure I can break into a vending machine any more.

Is there anything to be said for another survey?

Really? You are going to stoop to that kind of juvenile name calling for JD. What are you 13?

I started using my own win10 laptop for work. Not happy about it but nobody will get my work laptop fixed so no other choice.
