Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

A little perspective

So here we are a few weeks from our emergence and gauntlet has been thrown down. I am excited for the changes we are about to embrace.

My thoughts:

Sales: The continued focus of optimizing our account management will drive a more effective and intimate relationship with our clients. I applaud the continued focus on top line. Do not lose on price!!!

Product: why not.... expect to see less of a focus on the widget and more focus on the outcomes!! I expect we will continue to increase our client intimacy in the SaaS and ISV space. This will drive new perspective on the value prop and where we go 3-5 years out.

Operations: we will see a more streamlined approach between product and Opps. As we begin to embrace the outcome we deliver as opposed to the product/technology this alignment will naturally occur.

The great news is that these shifts have begun and soon we will learn of the organizational changes that will be put in place to bring us into the future.

I am Positive about a few things:

The opportunity is Infront of us

The momentum is behind us

The time is now

Thanks-

One Positive Guy

This was a planned destruction... previous owners got their huge payoff when they did the FIS deal a few years ago... then they sold off software business, Norway etc...

New owners are here to take all the meat off the carcass of what used to be a $11B business now worth ~$340m.....

Love it OPG!! I don’t agree 100% but can Understand and appreciate the perspective. It’s crazy how some people pick apart certain excerpts and ridicule them and then hide behind the name “The Night King”.

Your negativity and doom and gloom rhetoric is as original as the name you hide behind. Glad you are back OPG!!

Go Sungard.

Product - More focus on the outcome. The problem is the products Sungard AS has to sell are old and tired or they are trying to compete in products with companies way out of their league. HPC will never sell when you are trying to make a break into the AWS/Azure/Google world.

No answer why AWS is not selling when everyone else can do it. Recovery products might have a chance if sales people focus on them.

Recovery is an easy sell. How are we not seeing a huge surge anytime a disaster hits any part of the world? Flooding in the south should have had every sales person on the phone calling every company asking about their DR and selling them DR services and/or co-loc. Not s-xy, but volume!

Appreciate the optimism, but outcomes? experiences? intimacy? Be real. Its what can we sell the customer that solves their problem. We don't have much to offer they can't get somewhere else for cheaper and better.

As long as KR is in charge of operations operations is doomed - that POS needs to go

OPG you seriously sound like someone who has no depth in any of the areas that you highlighted in your text above, but you are plugged in at a high enough level to spout the buzz word bs that someone feeds you. Sales - optimizing account strategy means move all the efforts to hang on to any revenue into the lowest cost sales team, which means layoffs for outside sales, and headaches for inside sales. Product - focus on outcomes, true genius, 8 yrs late, with no product for SAAS/ISV to speak of, no support from AWS, yet the reference to value 3-5yrs away, which will never happen given short window for SGAS. Operations - streamlined approach = layoffs in the works, which leads to more headaches for inside sales to handle and circle continues. Wake up and read between the lines.

One positive Girl/Gal nice attempt but for those of us still in the trenches, you insult our intelligence.
